Question Betta won't eat

I got my betta 5 days ago and he just ingests his food then spits it out and ignores it......I know my other betta took 11 days to start eating when I got him. But.... Is that normal? Is there anything I can do aside from feeding frozen/freeze dried foods because I've allready done that? I just want him to eat the pellets (same as pet store fed him). But like I said it was 11 days until my other one ate so I may just have to wait.

from what i've heard, it's totally normal if your betta doesn't eat even after a week or two. for others, it just takes time to adjust. you can try smushing them into smaller pieces, or soaking them in garlic juice.

i'm not really an expert on trying to get bettas to eat, because my first betta and my current betta both ate on the first try.

i hope your betta does well, good luck! (:

Victor ate an hour after being put into the tank, I put two pellets in, and he may not have seen them right away because he was exploring. It was the same pellets he was fed at the store, perhaps that may make a difference?

Did you break the pellets up?

Yes no difference and often he'll just get scared by me feeding him and dart back and forth across the tank and not notice

Yeah sometimes when you bring home a Betta they need time to adapt to their new home. It took Jake three days to start eating, I dropped in some flakes, and he ate them and spitted them out, so I fasted him for about two days, dropped in some pellets and he ate like a champ.
