White spot on mouth wound

Symptoms and Treatment
How has your betta fish's appearance changed? White spot inside mouth wound, yellowish growth on nostril?

How has your betta fish's behavior changed? Behavior is fine. Still active and eats fine.
When did you start noticing the symptoms? month~two months?
How old is your fish (approximately)? Don't know. Had her for a year, pretty small when I bought from pet store so i guess about 1.5 years? 2?


So it started off with a wound at the mouth. It looked like my betta injured herself somehow (she's incredibly energetic) so I put some antibiotics in and changed the water to be safe. For about a month it seemed the wound was getting better and nothing changed but after i moved her to my new apartment, i noticed she had a white spot that grew inside and underneath a little opening from the mouth wound. Its not cottony, it just loks like a white lump sorta like a pimple i guess? But i thought it was ich so i changed water, added salt and turned up the heat to about 85-86ish? Nothing changed for a week so I tried to use Jungle Fungus Clear thinking it might've been fungus. It worked and the white spot disappeared after two days but then it reappears a week later. Now its even worse with two white spots underneath and there seems to be something yellowish on the right nostril. So i'm stumped on what it is and how to get rid of it. Maybe it's because i'm not doing the treatments long enough? or its something else besides fungus or ich x.x So i registered here hoping to get some help x.x I also have another betta and he's in a separate tank but i do everything the same for the both of them and he's fine and healthy so if it's something to do with how i take care of them i wouldn't really know either.


I tried to take a picture but my betta kept swimming away from my camera so here's the best i could do x.x i circled the white spot in black. Sorry its so blurry.

Welcome to the forum and sorry you haven't got a response....

Since she is otherwise acting and eating okay and it has been on her for a month or two...my thought is lymphocystis...google that and see if the pics look like what you are seeing.....it is viral and no treatment-generally not fatal, however, with it on her mouth it could impede eating as it grows and that could be problematic....

I would lower the water temp to 77-78f, increase your water changes to twice weekly 50%...1-50% water only and 1-50% to include the substrate-filter media needs a swish/rinse in old tank water a couple of times a month.

i google'd it and i found this picture


which is exactly wat it looks like. so tyvm for helping me identifying it. kinda depressing knowing its incurable but at least my betta will be okay for now x.x and thx for the compliment ^^ Her colors caught my eye too. When i first saw her at the store, she was still rly young and she was black with pinkish fins. Wish i still had a picture. Anyways thx again!
