Taking quality Betta pix?

I adopted this gorgeous Betta boy whom I call Argo. But I cannot seem to take good, clear photos of him. His coloring is so beutiful{ Blue, green & a hint of red} that I want to show him off to y'all Betta enthusiasts.

Any suggestions?

If your camera has a Macro setting, definitely use that, and using flash helps alot!! it might not show his colors exactly like they are in real life, but atleast the photos should be clear =)

It can be difficult! I have also seen suggestions of turning off all the lights in the room and turning on the tank light(s).

Most importantly, you need lots and lots of PATIENCE! Take tons of pictures. With digital cameras, you can just delete the ones that don't turn out and that gives you lots of chances for good shots! :D

I usually take photos with flash, on high megapixels and stand back from the tank at an angle. Then when I put the photos on my computer, I crop so its just the betta. Usually works for me. I have a point and shoot camera, you gotta find a groove. Every camera is different :)

It's hard to get the colors right. I have a pink fish that looks blue in pics.

I point a desk lamp over the top of the tank directed kind of to the back so the bright light points off the water at an angle and I play with settings. I have great pics using Macro, high ISO, action, kid portrait, and flash off action. Sometimes I test the auto feature for good results. :) It's a process for sure!! It's one of my hobbies though, trying to find that calender worthy shot!! :P Good luck!
