2g Cookie Jar Tank

Yo, d00ds.

I needed a plant tank on the fly and didnt feel like paying a whole lot for a new tank, so I picked up a solid (and heavy!) glass cookie jar (with lid) at walmart for only $10. I acquired a rescued platy literally within a few minutes of setting the tank up (RAGE), and he looooveess to knock my plants up and out, so forgive the fuglyness.

Anyway, Its a cute tank and a cute idea, for not a whole lot of money. The tank's lid closes it all the way, so it cant stay on (for lack of air), but if propped open, it's fine.

I do realize how much gravel is in this tank (its a plant tank Dx !), but dont recommend that much in a normal tank.

And yes, little Applesauce has a filter, derp :p (Please note, I do not, at all- recommend you keep platys 1) alone 2) in tanks under 5-10gs.

Anyway, pics:

Please excuse the DISGUSTING pink gravel... I hate colored gravel, but needed some cheap stuff. Black gravel is eco-complete.

Before knocking my vals up....

Lots of space for a betta :3

With the lid-- which is propped by the tubing for the filter:

Woot, anyway, yeah- so cheap $10 2g cookie jar :)

I know. =) But I'm not upgrading my tank until about Christmastime, so I don't have room for more fish.

I saw those the other day and I seriously thought about getting one! But I'd just spent 10 bucks on a little 2.5 gal. (Well, more like fifty when you count everything that I got for it. >>)

Still though. A couple months ago I was looking for something like that. But I already have too many fish. Had too many before I got my new guy Mercury... lol He's got a little bit of popeye but I fell in love. I'm hoping to get some espom salt soon when I get to go out next, and hopefully get him cleared up. (Also crossing my fingers for him clearing up on his own with some clean water... but it was pretty clean looking in the store so who knows.)
