1 Week Water Levels in a 1G?

Hey everyone,

As many of you know, I've been working on a planted (high light, no CO2, yes liquid ferts) and cycled 1G (fish in).

It's not very planted right now with a marimo moss ball and a chunk of cabomba.

Double checked water parameters today and they were as follows:

Ammonia: 0
Nitrate: Still haven't replaced this test kit.
Nitrite: 0

It's been a week since the last full water change, with a 10 - 25% top up/change earlier this week (despite water params being the same that day).

Is there any way just that tiny amount of plants could seriously keep these down at 0 in a week? I don't really believe it!

PS. It's been this way all week. I've checked the parameters daily, and added between 1 - 3 drops of fertilizer/day, cause my plant doesn't look like it's growing much lol.

If your filter is cycled, 0 Ammonia, 0 Nitrite and some nitrate is what you should expect.

I suspect that might be why you are getting that result. Try replacing your nitrate tests and see how much you have- though it's likely the nitrates will end up becoming plant food when you have more plants.

See, the tank isn't cycled yet… It's been up a week. And there's been no change within a gallon in regards to Nitrite and Ammonia? That's what I'm finding strange.
