the best way to clean sand in my tank?

hey guys, i was wondering what would be my best option for cleaning sand in my 7 girl sorority. do you think i could get a snail or should i just use like some rubber tubing and suck it out like that? i kinda like the snail idea so i can just do my weekly water changes and the snail will eat the debris on the bottom, but im not sure. any advice?

I use my gravel vacuum to clean my sand. I hoover it above my sand 2 inches or so and move in little circular motions and anything sitting on top of the sand gets sucked up, but the sand stays down.Snails poop alot more than they clean up...They are cute though. :)
Snails eat algae and other soft vegetation they dont eat fish poop.
