Male or Female?

I got a betta from Petco about 2 weeks ago to start up my sorority, labeled as a veiltail female. I noticed she had pretty large fins but didn't really think anything of it. She was easily the most aggressive girl in the tank (she was only in there for a day or so) and I removed her. Now I'm starting to question if she's a he.

I'm almost positive that she has an ovipositor, its hard to see past her pelvic fins and she never holds still long enough. Or could just be a light patch of scales. She gets stripey very easily.

On the other hand, she had a mini-bubblenest going on about the size of a quarter, and while she was with the other girls she relentlessly chased everyone around, full flare, has an impressive 'beard.' And her fins are massive in proportion to her body.

I'm so very very very confused >.< I managed to get a few pictures with my phone while I changed her water but she's very wiggly. I call her Franky.

It looks like a really young male to me o_o Some young males even have ovipostors!!! I guess the only way to tell would be to wait a couple months and see if those fins grow out, i have a feeling that they will!!

I had Franky next to my males and s/he started getting vertical stripes...so I did some research and apparently juvy males get them to show submission?
Ah, this is driving me crazy
The majority of people I've asked say male but I'd like a few more opinions.

I was having the same problem with a male I bought a couple of weeks ago. He showed signs of being a female too, but since he's been with me the little white spot is gone and he is starting to flare. From the looks of yours, it does look like you have a small male. You should wait it out and see.

Looks like a young male to me as well and I agree that you should wait a month or so to see for sure

Anyway.

It does look like a male, I've heard stories of males looking like females at first, then killing all the girls in the sororities and turning out to be a boy.
