Maxwell's New Tankmates.

So I was going to get some cories for Maxwell as tankmates but the petstore was out of them. Instead I got 5 Platies and a Molly. :)
When I first put the bags in there to float he did not even pay any attention to them, he was more focused on if I was feeding him. lol
Then after a while I let them go into the tank, at first Maxwell was actually afraid of them but now he is fine. It has been a few hours now and they are all fine, not one flare or nibble out of Maxwell.
I really have a sweet Betta. :)

I have 10 baby Swordtails that look just like your black Platy lol I have one male that's black and I always said I'd love to have another, got my wish. Your fish are beautiful, good luck with them! And pssst, next time QT your fish ;) I didn't once and the new fish gave my tank Ich and Columnaris at the same time. I lost 3 Glowlights because of my mistake :(

I really like those fish, and your tank set up!
I wasn't a big fan of the way platies look at first but they have started to grow on me!

Also Pit, what does "QT" mean, im new to the fish keeping game and some of the abbreviations are beyond me.

QT mean quarantine, when you buy new fish/plants it's best to QT them for two weeks or longer to make sure they're not carrying diseases or hitchhikers for plants.

It's ideal to QT don't want to end up with sick or dead fishes.

Yep, it was a $60 lesson I learned, buying medications and loosing $30 worth of fish on top of it. I know people want to put fish in the tanks asap, but the best advice I can give someone is have patience with your tanks and fish, and you will have less problems. Fish keeping is all about taking your time :)

Ohh and I love platys and swordtails <3 Although mine won't stop reproducing.

So Maxwell seemed to get more and more uncomfortable, I put him in a 3 gallon critter keeper with two silk plants, a jar cave, and a little heater.
My Husband surprised me recently with a trip to Petsmart for some decor. :)
I know the Greek vase clashes with the two new Asian wood figures, but they were so cool I just had to get them. lol
I also got one more Platy sense I took Maxwell out.

They're beautiful fish, what size tank is that? And just a word of advice: you said you bought a Molly, no? They're brackish fish, and although I've heard varying arguements, bottom line is that in the wild, they're brackish. They can live in freshwater, but they won't be happy. And besides, they get like 3-4 inches long and hurt bettas

yeah i lost two fish my black moore and a beautyful fancy gold fish l=because i did not QT my new fish... they all got fin rot and sine i was like 12 at the time i did not know about it they all ended up dying from body rot... it was nasty i cired lol

Well my Betta is not in there anymore so no worries about him getting hurt. :)
Yeah the pictures with the shark looking yellow and black fish is the Molly. So do you think the Molly will die because it is in freshwater? (of course I would not want that to happen)
And my tank is a 14 gallon.
