Is that sand? have you moved it around? it could be that there are gasses in the air pockets that are affecting him....

Check the ammonia and nitrate/ite levels. It's a new tank and sometimes they spike when it's trying to cycle itself. Also check the temp, make sure you put in water conditioner. And how did you acclimate him? Did you use the correct soil for the plants? As well as is that sand for fresh water? Always best to double check everything you did when something seems amiss.

Poor guy.. he looks just like my Xander =( Hope he pulls through.

It's something to do with the chemistry in the water if he is just fine in a QT tank with fresh/different water.

Were the stones ones you found on the ground or bought in a bag at the store? Some stones are not good for aquariums, and any you find you must let soak for a long time. I still say check the water chemistry, something caused him to get sick and it may not of just been the stones. Water gets cloudy for any number of reasons.

Took the stones out, waters still 78.5 I added plants, stired the sand, added clay pot caves, let them acclimate for like 6 hrs in their cups, put them in...both fish went lifeless and just seem to sit there and do nothing..soil I used was organic top soil.
