Coppers change colors when swimming?

Picked up a new guy yesterday (the big box petstores where I live get some really out-there color combos): a copper, black, and orange (what I think is a) delta.

The unexpected part, though, is that as he swims around, the copper parts of his body change to a teal/turquoise green or light lavender depending on how the light hits his scales and the angle at which he is swimming. It's a very cool effect!

Does this happen with all coppers or metallics? I've never seen it mentioned and it came as a huge (but awesome) suprise!

Hopefully I'll be able to take some pics later on to show off my three handsome guys!

Almost all my bettas do that lavender-turquoise-color-change-while-swimming thing, but I recently got a copper male as well and he does change colors when he moves, it's really pretty.Who knows what it is but it make watching them extra fun. :)

Yup, that's why i love coppers so much. It's pretty much the nature of that color.
