cleaning heaters?

How do you clean a heater is it safe to run underwater? i would appreciate if you could get back to me as quick as possible im mid water change and it is sorta slimy.

Well yes, if it's meant for an aquarium it's safe to run under water lol. Just make sure it's unplugged before you expose it to dry air. You could wipe it down with a cloth.

tip for anyone who finds themselves chasing their fish with the net: listen to myates
let the cup float, drop a pellet in when he comes to eat BAM sink the cup let the water rush in take the betta with it. much less stressful.

Yeah I always scoop my bettas out with the cup, I don't even own a net ;)

how do i get him back into the tank without putting back some old water?

You can't - just dump out as much old water as you can, then submerge the cup and let him swim out. It won't hurt anything.
