filter too sucky?

ok so my filters a little to harsh what can i do my fis goes away from it strugaling but its made for a five gal

For the outtake you can use aquarium sponge rubberbanded across the outtake...For intake you can use a peice of some nylon (stockings) and put it over the intake so the bettas fins dont get injured...you can aslo try pre filter sponges.
Fluval make some, but if you cant find them you can also cut a hole in the center o f some aquarium sponge and fit it over the intake .

Be careful turning the filter on and off.. how long has it been on? Turning off the filter will cause all the bacteria you need to die and when you turn it back on, all that dead/bad bacteria will be pushed into the tank...

it had been on for maby two hours at the most but i took the fillter out so i can clean it if that will help stop bactiria from being pushed in
ummmmmmm
is there a problem with turning the filter off?

on my Marineland 5 I took filter floss and plugged up the exit holes for the water and plugged the spillage hole for the water ware it comes out and goes over the filter pad.

um....the part of the filter that actualy pumps the water into the chamber to be filtered, I plugged it up some with Filter floss. and the out take i also covered with wilterfloss to kill the current.
