Good idea?

So i have a couple breeding pair ideas... But am not sure they would be good ideas genetics wise... This is where i need your help guys!

Now, before we get started, i dont plan to breed until summer, and who knows what will happen before then, i am just testing the waters here.

So, first pair, DbT female, and FT male:

The picture of the female was taken before she fully settled and colored up, now they are nearly the same color.

Second pair, VT female, HM male:
(i think i need to take new pics of the girls... XD She is fully healed now and all colored up with a black edge to her fins)

So what do you guys think, good ideas, or no?

I would likely be giving away most of the fry unless they were amazing quality... so yeah. XD

Your #1 male is a rose - If possible DO NOT breed him. But if you have no choice breed him to a female with 2-4 end rays. I wouldn't breed a rose to a DT because that might add to the deformities.

In short; I would pair M#1 to F#2 and M#2 to F#1

Plus the dt influence will increase the dorsal base of the HM male2 which gives a fuller HM apperance. Plus you could get DT back in F2

And since the RT has excessive branching, the limited branching on the VT will help compensate this. The last thing you want would be deformed extreme RTs

So yeah as Indjo said VTxRT and DTXHM would be your best bets.

But what about color? And i believe male #1 is actually a feather tail, that pic doesnt show it well.

As far as breeding him to a veil, it wouldnt give the look i was hoping for, what if i bred him to a HM?

And the second pair would be good together? VT + HM?

Please help me to understand, thank you!

Form should be focused on more than colour.
Both are HM, one however has far more branching than the other ressulting in the feathertail apperance.

By crossing a Vt to either of them you will get similar results. But the incresed branching in Male1 may compensate for the VTs low branching which will potentially give the offspring more caudal spread and therefore closer to HM standards.

Looking at male 1 again he appears quite short bodied, crossing this with a dt which are usually shortbodied will result in poor, shortbodied fry, plus it looks like hes carrying DT so you may get short bodied RTDT fry.

DT and male2 will most likely give you blue fish with red wash, same as what you would expect from male 1 and DT. They would have a nice broad dorsal because of DT influence.

red VT and male2 would prob give you blue with redwash and darkbodied reds with lots of blue irids.

Red VT and male1=probably again, blue with a lot of redwash and/or some reds.

This is just me guessing though.
At the end of the day its up to you, its like a lucky dip
