Question What Heater and Thermometer?

I am looking for a good Heater and thermometer for my tank witch is currently a 2.5 gallon it is the "Aqueon Betta Bow 2.5" I could search this on google but i want to hear from betta owners. As most people would say i want the lowest price and the highest quality. Thanks in advance!

Hi Noah,

2.5g tank pose a problem, the smaller the tank the harder to heat.

As it stands the smallest adjustable heater you can get is a 25w generally. These are much more desirable because they automatically switch off at the preset temperature ensuring no cooked fish.

You could try to see if a 25w would fit, mine is 18cm long. If that doesn't fit into your tank, and remember it must be submersed at least 3/4 - but this can depend on brand - your only other option are the un-adjustable betta mat heaters.

These are always cheap, and have only seen them made by no name brands mainly comming out of china. They do not switch off or have a setting temperature. They will always heat 5 degrees above room temperature regards of how hot it is.

For brands, suggestions and reviews: http://www.bettafish.com/showthread.php?t=82735

Im looking at this one: http://www.amazon.com/Elite-Submersible-Preset-Heater-25-Watt/dp/B00106X8QG because it is recommended by many people on this fourm. But it is preset meaning i cannot change the temp it heats 2. Im looking at it because it is recommended as i said but some of the reviews state that it blew up or got water in it ~_~ (Nervious Face)

I have the Elite Submersible Mini Heater in my 2g right now and it works great, I really recommend it. It is adjustable so no worries about that.

I bought it from my PetSmart, and I don't think Elite heaters explode. Maybe the two people didn't submerge their heaters and turned it on causing the glass to burst.

But yeah I always recommend Elite heaters.

It'll automatically turn on and off by itself, just get the mini one it'll work fine for your 2.5g.

I have the elite 25w in my mini bow 2.5 too. It works like magic. Adjustable and it will turn itself off. I know people don't recommend using the tape on liquid crystal thermometer tape thingy. But I have two and it is super accurate.
