Color Changing Betta

Hey everyone! Is color change in a betta spenden normal/okay? He's been blue/green for the past 7 weeks, but I noticed yesterday that his gills and anal fin next to his body have turned a brick-reddish color.
Any input would be much appreciated.

It is common for many to change colors once they have adjusted and are secure in their new homes. Bettas sold in a lot of stores are usually pretty young, 3-6 months, and as they grow they may change color a couple of times.
It just means he's happy and healthy. It's when they go pale that you need to worry.

Myates got it right! Almost ALL of my bettas have changed colors! :) It's kinda cool, huh? The surprises never end.

I bought my baby girl, Luna, because I thought she was going to be a cello all her life. Nope. Her fins are all red, her face is brown, with a super brown mustache, and she has brown spots.... :( It's only a face her mother could love! LOL And I do love her!!!

Sorry to hijack, but this is relevant. I recently got 6 girls for a sorority. Some of them have a relatively large amount of colour, but three or four of them are still a fairly dull brown on the body. I know part of this is because they are still settling in, but I think it is also partially due to their age (I'm guessing less than 6 months due to their tiny little ventral fins. Are they likely to get more colour as they age? :)

Lol, I don't think I can fit any more plants in my tank! Maybe another floating plant? Hmmm....
Stop enabling my plant buying, please. :p

I'd heard bettas coloring becomes more vibrant with age, but not that they could change color completely.

They don't change in the way that a mustard gas would change to a full on red.. but one that is blue may get some red in in their fins, or black, etc.

The really young ones, still considered fry are tan in color with black stripes.. then they color.. and when they get old (close to the end of their life span) they can easily turn dull and brown.
