Question about fry colors...

How do you know what color the fry is gonna be?
Is it about half and half on the color? Or does the color from the two get mixed?
How does this work?

It's a matter of dominant and recessive traits. The best way to figure out what color your fry will be is to look up whether the phenotype of your parents are recessive or dominant traits and then do a punnet square to determine the possible genotypes of the fry.

The punnet square works pretty good with that. As for my fry I expect a little metallics, mostly blacks and blues with some reds, and probably some what the hecks.

He's a red butterfly vt male. His fins half fed half cello. She's teal, with a dark head vt female.

Sounds like a pretty mix. I'd think you'd get more reds than teals though you will still get teal. Her head color actually could come out as a color on the fry, and some may get the butterfly appearance :) then you'll also keep in mind the "wait... What's that??" colors hehe!

And cool I got a butterfly VT today! Such a pretty thing

I believe this page lists the basic dominant and recessive traits. I know I had a better one bookmarked somewhere but I can't seem to find it. I'll post it when I do.
