My sister has a comet in a 23 gallon. Some of you have probably read my rants about his conditions already so I won't go on about them here. :p

When our trailer arrives we are buying a 740 litre (195 US gallons) pond. I'm going to move my sister's fish into it (if she lets me - fingers crossed!) and hopefully liberate two more comets from one of my students (she has two comets and a fantail crammed into a 5 gallon). I also want some shubunkins. :) I'd like 5 fish total for the pond, and I want to try and plant it.

One day I also want a 100 gallon fancy tank with:
- 1 black moore
- 1 panda butterfly moore
- 1 fantail
- 1 veiltail
- 1 ryukin
:)

Thanks! I love my furry babies. :) I love yours! Very classy. I wish I had a picture of a betta as lovely as the ones I've seen here. :)

I have three shubunkin. Ernest must be at least 5 years old, but he's only 6 inches from head to tail since my dad kept him in a 30 litre tank with about 5 other goldfish.

The other two are around 3-4 inches and don't seem to be growing much as I only do water changes once a week. At the moment, everyone lives in an over-filtered 200 litre tank; however, they will be moving into a 450 litre tank at the end of the month.

Eventually, when our house gets renovated, they will be going into a planted, 1000 litre pond built into the deck.

I have a small orange and white Goldfish named Cheezit.

He's currently in a old 2.5 betta bow I used to have with a filter.

I know that's a "small" tank but he's a really small fish. If he out grows this then I will get him bigger one.

He's either going to outgrow it or be irreversibly stunted by it. I would recommend at the very least upgrading to a 10-15 gallon tank.

Unless you are doing daily water changes or that tank is cycled with an oversized filter, the ammonia is going to accumulate extraordinarily quickly.

It's only a testament to the hardiness of the carp family, that so many goldfish can live for years in the archetypal fish bowl.

If you could find a large plastic tub that would work just as well.

I picked up a black 70 litre (I think that's around 20 gallons) tub from our hardware store for 10 dollars. Although I can't see in from the sides (it houses some guppies), it's worked great as a temporary measure.
