Do they ever actually "puff" up?

a friend of mine had them, and yes they do. but it takes quite a bit of pestering and annoying them, like you practically have to take them out of the tank and fiddle with them to get them to do it. I have seen vids on youtube of people doing it.

I want one, was told they are salt water fish and its impossible to maintain a salt water tank here..no idea of its true or not since it was from a petco employee and we all know how awsome their information is

They're freshwater fish Tiki, they'll puff up when they're fighting, apparently they're pretty aggressive fish not good for community tanks.

DON'T make them puff up. They may look cute, but when deflating they can retain air and die a painful death. Is that worth a "Daw, it's so cute!"?

And to add on to the ticking them off to puff 'em up, must stress them out a little too. Being pestered and all.

I have never once seen Huey puff up and I've startled him pretty badly sometimes dropping his lid by accident. I don't think he knows how to.

You have to REALLY stress them out.....I believe it's a last resort. Like pick them up and squeeze them stress.
