Rex was my sister's betta and she was "tired of taking care of him." I couldn't just let her flush him so I took the poor little guy to my house. He had lived in a half gallon tank on top of a refrigerator getting monthly water changes and stale pellets once a week, which he only nibbled at. Grr. He looked like he was at death's door.
I've had him for almost 3 weeks now. The first week was nerve-wracking and I ran into problem after problem, this was my first time with a sick fish. But I did my best! His water is always ALWAYS clean. I've managed to fatten him up some, and his fins are still ratty, but he's slowly healing. He is constantly watching what I'm doing and couldn't care less about his neighbor Blue. When I lift the paper between their tanks Rex just swims over, peers at him, then swims back over to me wiggling his fins. He's such a sweetie! And now one of the liveliest boys I have.
He's in a 1 gallon for now, moving to a 3 gallon once I get the rest of my boys settled into my new divided 20! Which is this weekend! Yay!
Anyways, enough rambling. Pics! The first is how I found him, and the last 2 are from today :) He still has a long way to go but I'm so proud of him for getting through the worst of it.
