new betta tomorrow

Yesterday while picking up a heater at one of the chain pet stores, I innocently checked out the bettas. It is so difficult to see such stunning fish in those tiny cups. Anyhow, there was a beautiful tiny blue crown tail who seemed pretty spunky. It was quite small, possibly a juvenile?

I'm learning to be a bit less impulsive with fish purchases and I decided to think about it for a day. I have a spare 2.5 gallon that I could house him in. I have my other betta in a 5 gallon planted which is a nice size, but if I buy another tank my wife is going to flip out, so the 2.5 will have to suffice.

If he is still there tomorrow I plan on going ahead and getting him. So if all goes according to plan, I'll post some pictures in the next couple of days.

Thanks. I've been setting up the tank this evening.

I meant to start this thread in the betta habitats section. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to make sure I post some pictures tomorrow.

This morning I got my new little betta guy. He's a wonderful blue and red crown tail. I promise some pictures soon.

I went ahead and set up a well planted 5.5 gallon for him. I already had a heater that would work, so I made that my justification for buying a new tank! After acclimating him, he lingered in the bottom corner for several hours and I was starting to get worried about him. Now though he is swimming all around the tank, exploring around the plants and having the time of his life. I imagine it is quite an adjustment after being in that tiny cup for probably his whole existence.

Picture soon.

My photography skills are not the best, but here is a photo of my new betta. He seems to have settled right into his new home. It must be such a weird experience after living in the tiny cup.
