This happened about 2 weeks back, but the no internet thing is such a disability, so sorry this is late... BUT...
Little Julep had a swim bladder problem. He couldn't swim to the top for the life of him. I could see he was struggling for air. Poor little guy! I thought for sure he'd be dead by the next morning. He was a sinker. He has a fake dinosaur skull in his 2.5 gallon, so I lowered it to just barely above that skull (water level a little under half way from the top) so he could push his way to the top of the skull and rest to get air. It worked great, I went to sleep, and just hoped he made it. The next morning he was perfect! I think he may have been constipated or something minor.
Due to pure laziness and concern for him, I left the water at that level... Within a couple days, he had built THIS;
The pictures don't even do it justice! This thing was HUGE! It was built very high, was long, and took up a fourth of his tank. I was surprised this little guy could do such a thing so quickly!
Now I don't have the heart to fill his tank up again. He's never made anything quite that big, (he bubblenests frequently when he's happy, but nothing like THAT) and he's so much more active now. I'm considering moving him to a larger tank so I can lower the water level but him still have ample space. Ah well, I'll figure it out.
Here's just a quick picture of him, so y'all can see his coloring coming him and him growing up!
