just depressed or something wrong?

So my boy, Cash, isn't acting like his normal self. He's been in a 10g by himself for quite a while, i divided it for a few days then back to the 10g. i bought some cory cats as tank mates for him in his 10g so while they are in qt he's in his old 3.5g tank. he isn't moving around as much, doesn't flare his fins out as much (not really clamped fins but in the 10g they were always expanded - not in full flare though). Last night he didn't really want to eat, he's always been kinda a picky eater but he is usualy very good about atleast playing with it when i put it in there. Do you think he's just kinda depressed about the downgrade again or is something wrong with him? the cory cats have atleast 5 days left on their qt...

How often do you perform a water change? once or twice a week
What percentage of the water do you change when you perform a water change? atleast 75 when he was in the 10g, in the 3.5 he gets 100% when i do water changes
What type of additives do you add to the water when you perform a water change? Aqueon Water Conditioner and sometimes Stress Coat

Symptoms and Treatment
How has your betta fish's appearance changed? hasn't, doesn't flare up as much
How has your betta fish's behavior changed? not active, just lays around on his leaf hammock or swims around the bottom
When did you start noticing the symptoms? yesterday afternoon
Have you started treating your fish? If so, how? have not treated him, doing a water change when i get home from work
Does your fish have any history of being ill? not at all
How old is your fish (approximately)? got him august 14, 2011 from walmart

I have no idea. Maybe it IS because he's been moved to a smaller tank. There don't seem to be any obvious signs that he's ill. How is he doing now?

yeah Cash passed away, he started acting worse, having trouble taking breaths, i did a water change and no difference - put him back in the 10g hoping that might help and he died the next day :( - he was very special to me but atleast now he's not suffering
