How to Take Good Pictures?

What containers do you awesome photographers use? Any extra lighting? Any tips for newbies? What type of camera do you use, DSLR or point and shoot? I know I need a better camera than the one I have now (just waiting for the DSLRs to show up on Woot!), but any tips would be loved.

I almost bought a tiny, half gallon critter keeper to take photos in, but I am not sure if it is the best option.

Meh, theres no need to stess out your betta by removing him. Just take some pics in his tank. I use my iphone4. Takes really good pics!!
