So, I've had Ratchet for over 4 months now. He use to live in a once divided 10 gallon, then a twice divided 10 gallon, and then a 1.5 gallon because he started tail biting.
I decided to get him a 2.5 gallon and got him a nice heater and new plants. I set it all up and adjusted him. He spent the night in the tank and loved it. But when I came home from work the next day, something was seriously wrong. He was lethargic, clamped, breathing heavy, and staying in one corner. I got him out and put him in some clean water with some epsom salt.
The next day the edges of his fins turned black and paper thing and started to fall off. I changed his water twice a day for two days and brought him up to 2 tsp/gal epsom salt. O the third day he ate and most of the black had fallen off. He was also active again.
He made it through chemical poisoning/burns with flying colors. I thought he wouldn't make it, but he proved me wrong, and I'm so thankful he did.
