That's cool. :D I guess it was more just curiosity than anything, lol. I tend to call them all boys for some reason hehe.

Anyway, thanks a lot for the help, hopefully things won't take a turn for the worst. I'll keep an eye on them for sure and figure out if I need to get a tank for him. Since I'm most likely getting a job at an LFS soon, it shouldn't be too hard for me to set it up myself, which my mom wouldn't mind as much.

With sexing goldfish, though it's not always 100% accurate, you can kind of judge based on fin shape. The males will have more pointed pectoral fins and the females will have rounded ones. :)

Haha, that's cool. :)

Honestly, part of the reason is I'd like to finally name them. Never did because OMG parents don't know how to take care of fish and I knew they might not live long with me gone to college(and I was right, their first two batches did NOT make it and we lost half of this group they bought. They do NOT understand the concept of ammonia spikes or bio overloads. They are 'dump all fish in at once' people)

But since I'm home and have taken control of their care...they seem to be doing okay. All the koi are about 9-10" long right now, one of them is definitely over a foot(a big butterfly koi) and there is one that's closer to 6.5-7"

Since I am feeling slightly more confident about their chances of survival I guess I am letting myself get attached, lol!

Yeah, they are too lazy for that, they are glad I'm home honestly so I can just take over their 'job', haha. They just liked the idea, realized it was a lot of work, and now are like "oh...uh, here, Kat :D you now have FISH!!"

We have a member at TFK, Lupin, who is an expert on goldfish and when I say expert I am not kidding. He knows EVERYTHING about goldfish. The only problem is that Lupin isn't on the forum much anymore. He'd be the one I'd ask advice of about goldfish.

I completely agree, I would definitely try to PM him, or try to contact him at TFK. He's helped me quite a bit
