I cannot for the life of me baffle the filter and I'm ready to pull my hair out! I have tried the water bottle, the sponge, both. Everything I can think of

Should I just getrid of it all together?

what do you guys suggest?

I ended up taking the filter out of my minibow..because of algae issues. aquarium sponge worked for baffling though.

I always ditch the free filter that comes with tank set ups. For a 2.5g tank I would suggest the Tetra Whisper 3i. I used it in my old 1 gallon tank and my fish weren't bothered by the current. It's too small to baffle properly, but if it worked in a 1 gallon, it should be fine in your two gallon. I think the box says it works for 1-3 gallon tanks.

I don't have experience with any other small tank filters. Once your tank is 5 gallons or larger the filter options become limitless. XD

I also have a mini-bow and the aquarium sponge baffling method has worked well for me- the current is pretty much nothing now. What kind of sponge did you try? I used a hair-tie to secure the sponge to the filter outtake (not intake).
