Trying to decide if I want to keep this one....

Look at what I found at Petsmart today. They are have a sale. $2 off all Betta's. I like this guy but I also had my eye on another, a white boy with some iridescent in his tail.

What color do you think this one is? He is still in his Petsmart blue water....

Mustard Gas?
Chocolate?

I dunno. He doesn't seem to fit the characteristics of a Mustard Gas. Here is what I found....

Mustard Gas
The original Mustard gas bettas had a solid blue/greenish body and yellow fins. Because this line bred true Jude Als thought of this strain name, but actually there not more then bicolor fishes.

Unfortunately nowadays, the term mustard gas is a very misused term. The pattern of the colors of the different MGs differ from fish to fish. Some fish also have blue/green/black edges around their fins while others lack these features. Most of the "modern" Mustard Gas don't even come close to the original of Jude Als.

Because of these controversy, at shows, mustard gas bettas are classified into the bicolored class.

Chocolate
Chocolate Bettas as they are commonly called, have a brown body with yellow fins. But actually they are black/Yellow bicolor bettas.
Chocolates are often bred to yellow in order to improve the color of both lines.

I am not sure. I thought he was yellow in the store. Damn Petsmart and that blue water. I am sort of doing a Zen Garden thing. I think I need the white one.

Is say chocolate as well, he's beautiful. Are you seriously thinking of not keeping him just because he doesn't match your 'decor'? That's a little... Odd.

Keep him!

I got a similar looking chocolate one, and he's definitely a quirky little guy.

I've also gotten one who I thought was a violet solid HM, but was actually royal blue. I was gonna bring him back, but my girlfriend guilted me into keeping him. Now he's one of the more funny fish at my place.
