Unhappy Not sure if betta is ok

I am new to fish-keeping, started about 2 weeks ago. I have a 1 male halfmoon plakat in a 1g tank with filter/heater, normally he seems pretty active.. but after a 100% water change today he seems to just hang out on the bottom of the tank all day.
The water is treated and aged over night, the temp is 78-81.
I don't see any sign of disease on him, and he would shoot up to feeding area with just 1 tap *no sign of having a hard time swimming up* But he just lay there all day.. is he depressed, lazy or just tired? (I turned off the lights and stuff when it was time for bed...

Is there anything else in the bowl with him? A cave? Plants to sit on? Something for him to explore?
While a 1 gal. is an alright tank, on this forum people really like tanks that are 2.5+ gallons, as it allows the fish for more room to swim around and be active. :)
Is he showing any signs of stress? Eating properly?

I have some of those smooth rocks from petco on the bottom *where he sleeps on*, i also have 3 silk plants in there too but for some reason he doesn't hang out there as much anymore. He is eating properly *charge for feeding hole as soon as he sees my hand moves*

only change is that I took out the under-gravel filter and replaced it with a tetra in-tank filter for small tanks, and took out the nonadjustable 7.5 watt heating pad to a 50 watt adjustable one *temp is set to make the 1 gal heat to 80, I am monitoring it for any changes*

as for stress? are they suppose to show some kinda strips? he doesnt really show any signs of that or any aggro/sudden movements

Ok well at least he has coverage.

They can show stress stripes, yes. They are horizontal stripes, and usually the betta will loose color as well and become "muddy"
Other than that, I can't really help you. :(

I wish you luck and I hope he gets better!

I think I solved the problem, the new filter makes too much of a flow, I lowered the water level a little and hes swimming around near the top a little more now. ^^

Ah I didn't know you had a filter. :)
Sometimes the current can be too harsh for them.

You can baffle the filter to slow the flow of it...

I use the sponge method and it works really well.
