I Dont know how accurate it is, but it appears to be very detailed & I noticed it seems to take bio load into account which I appreciate.

The recommended temp for bettas is too cold IMO at 75.2.

Good recommendations on the filters (going with the 65% of capacity).

Of course when I put that 2 male bettas were in the same tank it said that they need to be kept alone (doesn't factor in divisions, but that is to be expected).

My biggest problem is that it doesn't factor in plants. Heavily planted, medium planted, and lightly planted should have some effect.

Also, the % of water changes seems pretty light IMO. Only 16% weekly for my 2 male bettas in a 5.5 gallon? With heavy plants, yes. Without... I would honestly do more.

I believe that would be correct if your tank was cycled. The site takes into consideration that this is tropical tanks which really should be cycled to house fish :)

It's dead on for me, my 15g is 77% stocked, but my 29g is so overstocked it's unfit. Worked here.

I guess... It just seems so tiny to me. I normally do 25% changes. Though the water parameters are always perfect, so maybe I do worry. lol.

And the one female in a 2.5 with no filter recommends 16% changes weekly. That is definitely not enough. Minimum I do two 1/3 changes a week. And that is heavily planted (though not established yet). I guess we will see with that one in a couple of months.

It's definitely not the be-all and end-all of stocking, but it's a good rough guide (certainly much more accurate than the inch-per-gallon rule!) and does tell you if a fish is not suited to your tank. :)
