Anything I can do?

I rescued a fish from Petco yesterday and while he wasn't looking great, when I put him in his new, heated tank, he started swimming around and looked a little better.
When I woke up this morning though, he was lying on his side and gasping with his gills. He kept shaking, like he was trying to swim away but couldn't. He couldn't get to the top for air, so I caught him and put him in his cup so the water would be shallow.
When I was trying to put him in the cup, he got really scared and swam away, but he was sideways and when he went back to the bottom, he was upside down.
I have a slim heater that I put under his cup, and it hasn't been working too well so I'm not that worried about him overheating.
I think he's dying, which is really too bad, because he was doing well when I brought him home and I really thought that he would make it.

I have to leave for work in a couple of hours, so I can't watch him. I also can't buy anything for him. I have Aquarium salt, and that's pretty much it. :(

Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry to hear. Poor little guy.... At least he isn't suffering anymore.
