warning: might be a stupid question

Hey guys! I was just wondering... Do Bettas sleep a lot? :/
Near the surface?

Not a stupid question!

Most Bettas sleep at times their owner does. At night. So if yours is sleeping excessively during the day, something might be wrong.

And yes, some prefer to sleep near the surface.

Oh noooo :(
Now I'm super worried.
Right now I'm short on cash (of course, in the middle of my Betta spark), I have four bettas, two 2.5 gal tanks, and the other two bettas are in 1/2 QTs. And the two in the QT tanks are lethargic but my Delta, Hollywood, just floats around the surface and doesn't move unless he needs to. :(
Do you recommend I start a new thread for him?

You don't need to be worried if he's just sleeping a lot. Some bettas do sleep a lot. If he's rolling, floating or bobbing it might just be swim bladder issues which are easy to fix...

If you're worried fill out the sticky in the disease section for more specific help :) He'll be ok, don't worry.

A lot will sleep near the surface because it's easier for them to just bop up and grab some air that they need to breathe.. a lot of times people put plants close to the top for them to lay on. Mine either sleep on top, or in their caves. My girls only sleep on top.
As far as quantity- depends on each fish. If the water is too cold, they will get more lethargic and sit still more so then not.

Don't be.. only thing you need to take into consideration is the temp of their waters. They should be in 76-82*F temps.. Why are the 2 in QT? And for how long? How are you warming them, and how often are you doing the water changes?
Sounds as if Hollywood would do better in a heated home if you're not treating them for anything specific.
