Orchids (A quick question!)

My boyfriend just bought me an orchid (a moth orchid), and I was wondering if I could use my Seachem Flourish as a fert for it? That might sound like a silly question for more experienced growers, but I figured I would ask. Feel free to post pictures, I would love to see others!

Thank you! So far it has already perked up after getting it out of the drenched, molding sub it was in and trimming off the rotting roots and dead leaves. Hopefully these won't be as addicting as bettas and I will be happy with just one!



Here is one of the flowers. It has about 8-10 other buds, and one other open flower. I am hoping the move wasn't too traumatic for it, and the buds will still open.

I rarely fertilize my orchids, and they bloom year after year. When I do use a fertilizer, I have a bottle from Parkside Orchids that's lasted me years. Orchids are not addicting until you purchase a fragrant one.

I am so terrified I am going to kill this one. I have been an orchid killer in the past, but now that I have had luck with aquatic plants, and lucky bamboo (it is sort of in the water...) I figured I would try my luck with orchids again. This is my first in so many years. I think I did right by immediately replanting. I was going to hold off, but if I had waited for the blooms to die, I think the whole thing would have been rotted.
If it lives, the secret to my success will be using sphagnum moss instead of bark and dirt. If not, it was no more expensive than cut flowers, so my boyfriend won't feel bad, even if I do. On the other hand, it seems a lot more perky. I don't know how to describe it, but the leaves seems raised up towards the light in a happy sort of way. Not that you can really tell if a plant is happy... I just feel like it is happy. I know I am crazy. Just look at the pictures!

Orchids are so beautiful! I have a brown thumb with the simplest of plants however, mostly because I forget to water them. If it doesn't move like a fish or an animal, I forget it's there.

my dad does amazing with orchids. I'll have to take some pics of some of them.

recently in my baking theory class I found out that the vanilla plant is an orchid and I've since been conspiring to get my dad to grow one for me, lol
