My VT does that too sometimes, but I don't even feed him that much anymore.
Just 2 betta bite sized pellets twice a day, when I observe that his belly looks larger than usual I wait until it goes away then feed him...

Unless your fish has chronic bloating issues there is no reason to fast them. I'd take the pellets down to 4 - 7 a day, starting with 4 a day and moving up. I use NLS too and give my girls and boy of regular size 4 - 6 a day on average, give my giants 12 -14 a day for males, and about 8 for female giants.
