Betta "types"

I have noticed on the threads you talk about different types or styles of Bettas. I am confused. Is there a thread that explains each one? How do I know what mine is? Is there a common style that the stores usually sell and rare ones that can only come from a breeder? Here is a picture of our male.

Here's the thread that explains all the different tail and color types!

Your mail is a veil tail, the most common tail type (and my personal favorite).
Crowntail is probably the second most common, the rest can be hard to find if you don't have a breeder or a pet store near you that sells all the types. Petco and Petsmart sell almost all of the tail types =)

Thank you very much. I don't know how I missed that thread. I have two females also. Are they hard to identify? They all seem to look the same,

Its hard to see the tails in this pic. But the one on the left looks like a CT I think. the one on the right looks like either VT or CT but her tail isn't spread out to see. Hope this helps!

Edit to add: Actually the one on the left is possibly VT. Can you get a picture where there tails show up a little better?

I will guess they are both the same kind. This picture was taken just after I rescued them so they were still stressed. Their usual colours are blue with touches of red on their fins.

Thank you !! :)

Female crown tails are the easiest to distinguish, they have itty bitty little "spikes" that stick out on their fins. If you got them from a pet store, and they don't have the obvious spikes, then they are probably veiltails =)

My Harmonia is a deltatail. I got her from Feeder's Supply. They sell a lot of deltas. I've never even seen a crowntail girl in person. The crowntail boys don't really look right to me, but the girls are cute. :3

Ah! I'm so sorry, mjoy and mjoy's 3 CT boys. Tell them I deeply regret hurting their feelings. Lol. :p

It's just that the rays extend past the webbing. It makes them look like spiders or extraterrestrial beings or something, imo. Lol. >.<
