My second heater arrived today and my 7 y.o. daughter and I spent the evening preparing everything for our 2 bettas' "big move" tomorrow. The 2.5G tanks and all accessories/decor are thoroughly rinsed, water has been measured/added/conditioned and now I am just waiting for the tanks to (hopefully) heat up overnight to the appropriate temperature so that we can move them in the morning. I am so excited to finally get to see them enjoy their new bigger homes.
Which brings me to my question...I have read here that many bettas enjoy ceramic mugs as a good, safe hiding place. Are there any particular suggestions about what type of mugs to seek/avoid and/or how to prepare the mugs to put them in the tank? Our bettas didn't have room for a "real" hiding place in their 1G bowls so they would usually just hang out in the silk plants but I am excited to be able to enhance their environment in this way but want to avoid accidentally getting any type of mug that would actually be harmful to them in some way.
Thanks for any suggestions.
