Exclamation Betta lying down on bottom

My betta fish Fudd is lieing down on his side. I am worried he lost an eye a while back but seemed fine but now i was putting water in his tank(To be honest i havent been taking the best care of my fish recently due to various things). He will get up if he sees my hand but I am worried what should i do?

Also I dont have a camera

From what I've heard on this site there are a few first things to check.

Do you have a heater? Make sure his water is warm enough high 70 to low 80 degrees.

Is his water clean with betta conditioner in it? From what I've heard clean water can solve a lot of problems.

Does he have trouble swimming up to the top? if so you may want to lower the water level or put him in a cup with some aquarium water and "float" (attach it with clothes pins or somehting so it doesn't tip over) it in the aquarium so he doesn't have to swim up so high to get air.

Those are a few things that I think help any sick betta, but if you keep checking im sure there are people who know a lot more than me...

Thanks for responding. I believe he was just stressed because of all the activity in the water because he seems all better now.

It's been a really long time since i was last on here

You weren't being ignorant. Those were legitimate questions to ask.

my wife bought a baby betta at petco...bay meaning about a half inch. i am getting a new qt tank to keep low int he good water. low enough that he doesnt have to swim far to breathe. he is still at the bottom and it scares me so much for the little guy. it is so terrible as to how they are putting them out. my wife said he was the best looking they had.....how bad were the bad ones then i hate to ponder.

Well, main things for a betta who is often on the bottom of the tank, is 1. laziness (I had one x.x), 2. heater and temperature 3. tap water conditioner and amount of cleaning, how many times, etc. 4. sick 5. old 6. a bit stressed that's what I figured out lol.
