long tailed crowntail?

I have a orange dalmatian veiltail betta but after two months of owning him, his tail fringe is starting to spike like a crowntail. I do have plastic plant but they have passed the nylon test and his tail doesn't look infected or anything. Is it possible that i have a long tailed crowntail? I got him at petsmart if that helps.

Probably not, there could be many reasons his tail is shredding though. Does he flare a lot? If he was a crowntail, you would notice from the start :) Would love to see a picture though :) I love Dalmatians.

Well only a picture could help us determine the correct tail type for you for sure. Though it is highly unlikely that you have a log tailed CT.

Its possible he is bitting his tail. I have a HM that has more spikes in his fins then my CT
