i would say get one for a ten gallon just to be on the safe side... think they're like 25 watt... i just picked up a 50 for my ten gallon tho cause i got a good deal on it. There's a sticky around here somewhere that has the formula... watts per gallon, and a discussion of other people's opinions.

50w or 75w if your room gets really cold like mine does. (drops to about 60 at night during the winter. I currently have a 50w in my 5.5 and it would probably do well in the 8 gallon.

50W would be a fairly safe bet. I believe it equates roughly to 5W per gal

my 25w elite mini submersible are good until 5.5g so as others have said, go for 50watt minimum.

Then save your money a bit longer. Better to save for a bit longer, and get what you really need, rather than get a "this will do for now". Most times it's only like a 10 dollar spread from 25w to 200w for heaters anyways.
