Thanks for enlightening me, inkrealm. How strange! Have you got a link to this "Mystery Disease"?

umhum. here. it's definitely terrifying, especially since I own a blue boy myself ;x;

edit: wow... what a stunning swetheart... <3 I'm sorry he's not feeling well :( the one at the bottom looks a little like a CT... I take it he's not supposed to be though x:" I'm still not too good at identifying them so I'll let someone else handle that... ;-;" I do see the black edges if those aren't normally there... D:
you say it goes away and comes back??

yeah, it's really strange. it forms then i do a water change and use stress coat+ and it goes away. Then it comes back. Last night he was all healed up and I woke up to half of that. I was late to work so I couldn't do anything then I came home to that. :/ Last time I had this happen to my fish the AQ salt didn't even help and I had to use some tetracyclin on the tank for a week. @__@

geeze. @_= just a curiosity, after it goes away do you quit using the Stress Coat+? and how long do you wait between changing the water? 24 hours or less? ( and if less a rough estimate of how long P: )

I treated him Wednesday with Stress Coat+ and into Thursday. Water changed Thursday night before Black Friday shopping and then woke up to that. It changes from time to time. I've seen it take weeks to come back and sometimes just days.

in the small cups I like to change mine every four-six hours with a turkey baster to make sure it's good and clean since they're so darn tiny... dunno if that would help at all... ;x; have you ever tried using the Stress Coat+ as a regular additive to see what happens? P:

it is very odd ;-; how often do you change the regular tank and what size is it?

the 5 gallon and 10 gal get a water change 50% and then 100% once a week.

that's tail biting. :3

try changing their tank layouts, move decor around. getting water changes could stress them out, or they could be bored. it could be just about anything. i don't worry about tail biting, myself... i let Ichi chomp if he wants. he's been a good boy, though, and hasn't been nipping his fins...

that definitely started as tail nibbling. I don't know if that darker colour is his natural colouring or not. If it is, then just clean water is all I'd prescribe. And a high protein diet to help regrow fins.
