Nervous Betta

I had to leave my betta for 2 days because we had to go visit my family and my husband's family for Thanksgiving.

I noticed that he's been hiding behind the filter a lot since I've been home and from across the room I caught him flaring up at nothing...well, actually I just saw it again.

He's usually really active but not this nervous acting. Should I be worried?
It's the first time we've had to leave him since we got him

Did u add anything in the tank before u left? He may just not
Recognise u or Something, my betta has never been like this though. Give him a couple days he may be fine.

He is probably just seeing his reflection somewhere when he flares.. but it does sound as if he is nervous for some reason. How long have you had him and on his last water change, did anything different happen or did he become more agitated/spooked then normal?
Is the filter baffled? If the current is too strong, he may be hiding behind it to not be pushed around.
Do you have a cat or a dog that could of been scaring him while you were away?

Can't really think of anything else :(

When I put Otis in the divided 20 gallon he acted really weird and nervous. When my girlfriend walked up to the tank he shot to the bottom and hid as well as he could. He really wasn't used to it but after a while he staked out his territory, hopped my divider and bullied my crown tail (not to bad but enough to notice), and finally settled in. He's his regular old hyper self now. He cruises his cage 24/7 and eats 10X the pellets my other betta's do You've been gone so it's probably just going to take some time for him to re adjust to you being there.

Hey! thanks for the replies. Sorry i didn't get back to you. I pulled an all-nighter studying last night ugghh!

My betta's acting better now. I think it was just weird for him to have people again after two days. We don't have a cat or dog or anything and everything went find on his last water change.

I decided that while we were gone he got bored and found his reflection in the metallic-looking heater, ha. I think thats what happened...
