No I don't :( They work well as they are sturdy and straight. If you use the AQ silicone glue, I would assume anything straight with a harder edge would work- just glue it to the material itself. People just use them as they are cheaper and easier, but I can see why one wouldn't like them, as they sometimes have a thick edge.
But unsure what else can be used.. possibly start a thread in the
habitat section to see if anyone else has any ideas.. I haven't divided a tank for about 8 years, and I used store bought ones.. but others may have different ideas to share.
Some people will glue the mesh to the tank itself, if you only ever plan on keeping bettas in it.
Just make sure to allow the glue to dry 24 hrs before adding water to it.
