Using wood/bamboo needles keeps the yarn from slipping so easily.

Oh yeah, another fun way to knit a scarf would be k1, p1 or k2, p2. That would give a ribbing effect.

I think I actually prefer to crochet over knit, but I have a beautiful set of copper needles that are like silk. I hate plastic and bamboo as well. I have a store on my street that sells everything yarn and thread. I love it. I'm more of a sewing person though, I make pet bedding :)

I love using wood needles. Plastic is the worst, and I'm making a huge throw on a set of plastic circulars right now. I want to throw them out the window.

Yikes! I don't think I'd like trying to make a throw with plastic needles.
The sound of aluminum needles makes me cringe. Yuck!
