What Color is He?

I am no expert when it comes to betta coloring. I am completely stumped when it comes to the color of my guy. I don't know if he would be considered bicolored or what. He is the betta in my avatar. I'll try to get a better picture of him but he is a little skittish around the camera and moves too quickly.

A description of his coloring is the following:
I know for certain his body color is royal blue. There is no color variation in his body. His fins are a tad bit lighter but still looks like a typical royal blue VT. The thing that's unique about him is the fact that he has half of his anal fin is pure white. Also half of his dorsal fin is white and the tips of his ventral fins are white. Also to note, the picture of him as my avatar is a year old. Since then only the very tip of his caudal fin is white.

So what color pattern would he be considered?

That's what my boyfriend said he looked like. I didn't think he was that fancy :-p. He is a local Pet Supplies rescue. Poor thing was in the tiniest cup I've ever seen a betta in. Makes the cups at other commercial pet stores like Petsmart and Petco look comfortable. What really got me was that he had enough spunk to try to make a little bubble nest. A year and a half later he is content in his 2.5 gallon tank...soon to be upgraded to a 5g.

I'm cleaning his tank this weekend so I'll try to get more current, clear shots of him.

I have actually seen at least one butterfly when I go to Petco (The Petsmart by me, treats bettas terribly). He is a nice fish though definitely!

Thanks kfryman. I had never seen a butterfly before at a commercial pet store until my little Orville. I don't shop at Petco too much because it's a bit of a drive, but I'll have to stop by sometime to investigate their stock of bettas.
