bacteria infection?

Noticed this on my giant...

couldn't get a much better pic of it. It's pretty much what you see there. big white patch with some red in the middle. she also has some holes in her fins.

So salt and QT, right? should i be worried about the other residents in the 20 gallon?

It looks similar to lymphocytis.

From previous posts from OFL, she says that it really isn't treatable in a sense of a fungus or bacteria. It's more of a virus and just needs to run it's course.

Keep a close eye on it as it will most likely burst and then be open to infection and keep the water clean. If/when it does burst if it is lymphocytis, then make sure you clean the entire qt tank thoroughly as it might reinfect your betta.

I think you're safe to run a 5 day course of aquarium salt before just switching to clean water.

it's not a lump like lymphocytis... been in the salt with an air stone for a few hours the redness is gone but the white remains. it is not fluffy or stringy, it's like the scales are missing from the affected area.

Did he maybe get attacked by one of your other fish?

I know Plecos do turn aggressive once they get relatively large, but I don't know if that spreads to other fish or not.

guess it's possible, but i think i saw signs of this before i got the Pleco in there. Just a speck at that time but he kept it turned away from me at all times

updated pic... he seemed to be doing better today, at least before the water change. Spot has gotten progressively bigger but i think he's rubbing it.

Any changes i should make other than AQ salt?

updated pic... resting on an Oak leaf i went and found for him.

I can't think of anything to change.

I honestly don't know what this is.
