Heard about a possible cure....?

I read in a betta introductory book that mecurochrome can be used as a cure for fin rot, bacterial infections, things like that. The author said to net the fish and swab the stuff on the affected areas.
What I wanted to know is, is this a legitimate, effective cure? Has anyone tried it? Thankfully I haven't had to deal with anything worse than biting, but figured it would be nice info to have :)

I wouldn't... I haven't heard about this before but it would be extremely stressful to put it mildly. Clean water for rot.

yes, I've read this too. It could be possible but not something i would be willing to try. I wouldn't net the fish unless you have a brine shrimp net... nets are bad for bettas.
