Need your opinion please!

I got this baby betta at Petco two days ago. Yesterday, I noticed her abdomen looks swollen. She is doing great swimming around and has quite an appetite. I feed her 4 times a day (4 pcs of betta baby micro pellet). Is she going to be OK? I hope I am not doing something wrong. Thank you in advance.

Even though babies do require a little more feedings.. 16 micro pellets a day is quite a lot. She looks stuffed full of food.. go ahead and fast her for a day (4 meals), and then start feeding her 2 micro pellets per meal @ 4 meals. Once she is a little bigger you can then either feed less amount of times and upping the pellets per meal (3 pellets for 3 meals), etc. to a 8-10 total a day as an adult.

Other then the fasting, there isn't much you can do to help her.. no reason to do treatment, she'll expel the waste on her own and her system will catch up.

Thank you Myates for quick response. I was so worried that she has a swim bladder disorder or something! Sigh of relief!

Hehe welcome, glad she doesn't!

If she starts to tip over, can't stay upright, etc then let us know as those are signs of bloating and/or SBD and would require treatment... but for now she is just a piggy with a big belly :P I swear, a lot of these little fish will eat themselves to death if allowed!
