Egg Yolk?

Hello everyone! I'm going to just cut to the chase and ask; Is it okay to used boiled egg yolk like the powdered fry foods? Also, Are you even supposed to give them egg yolk raw? I have never used this method before and feel kind of amateur asking this, but as they say, the stupid question is the one not asked.

Can anyone with experience and/or opinions on this?

Egg yolk is used as a backup food for fry in the first week.
I really don't like it because it really damages water quality but as "emergency" food it's ok.
You have to boil the egg first :D Then you pinch a little with your fingers, dip your fingers in the water and rub them together.
For the first few days of life, it's much better for you to use plants in your spawning tank that will give you a good infusoria culture by the time they are ready to feed. You can also obtain worm cultures (vinegar eel, walter worms, banana worms) before you breed and feed those. I love water and banana worms because they are very easy to harvest, vinegar eels take a little patience. Best food? Baby brine shrimp, your fry will love that.

Thank you! Also I know what you mean because I dont use egg yolk at all because it does make the water horribly cloudy. I was just curious. I swaer by BBS great results from those little shrimp. I love using them because they make the fry's stomach so bright orange. I raised all of my spawn on only bbs, but i think this time I'd like to try others as well like walter worms banana worms, ect.

And I have never had a spawn without using live plants. I also want to get a few apple snails and moss balls. I love when I see the fry crowed around them

I really like infusoria because you don't have to worry about underfeeding your fry. If they didnt get enough before the others they can always eat infusoria.
Plus infusoria will live and reproduce in the tank so it wont hurt your water quality.

Its the best and most benefitial to have live plants in the tank. It makes my job a lot easier and im getting way more numbers than I usually would without it.

don't remember when was the last time i use it.
but now i won't even let it touch my tank.

reason
it get messy.
the fry tend not to touch it, when its at the bottom.
goes bad quickly in the water.(smell when you unwarp the tank to feed them again)
if you do a even spread of it thought the tank.(a pain in the ass cleaning)

little tip from me to you
find food that small enough and stay alive long in the tank.
it will make your hobby a lot easier on you.

watching your fry or 5-10 minutes a day or hour plus a day won't make a different.
when you have live food inside the tank.

thing that you should be watching out for.(when you look)
is there any left over food from the last feed.(if so skip the next feeding)
any sign of sickness.(do whats needed)
does the fry look skinny.(feed a little for the your last feed)
check if the temperature was the (same or 1+-) as when your started

watching them won't make them get bigger or get better.

I know. The one I use most and just love is BBS because it makes the fry easier to spot than others by making their "bellies" a bright orange color.

Unfortunately, I noticed this from experience lol. I love watching them, but sometimes I get a little anxious for them to get bigger to see the color patterns, variations, and other differences between them.

bbs is great but don't live that long. never seem one live past a hour inside of the tank
there only good for the first two day of the life.
plus it will get expensive if you have a lot of fry to feed.

will i heard vinegar eel can survive for days inside the tank but i never use it

the thing i use is microworm
these little guys can survive inside the tank for about a day or two.
don't know if they get eaten up or die inside of the tank.
cause i never have a control sample to test it out.

I have raised many spawns on BBS and only BBS. I like using them and they are what i'm most comfortable with. Also I don't think i'll ever use Vinegar eels because I have heard that they stink very bad. And i'm going to continue on with BBS and maybe Banana Worms to try it out.

I know that BBS don't live very long, but I feed them to the fry and the fry have them eaten in a matter of 15-30 minutes. They live about 3-41/2 days in their original container. That's what I have seen when using them.

thanks for the head up.
was thinking about using them.
just b careful when u use bbs.
overfeeding and the egg shield cause swim bladder problem.
down fall is, after 2 days the bbs lose most of it nutrition.
