Red cherry shrimp tank

Thinking of using my 5 gallon to house red cherry shrimp--but I'm having trouble finding out how many could be comfortably stocked in this tank size? Tank is cycled and planted.

I know they may breed, I already have plans for the young if they get out of hand :) many people here keep fish and wouldn't mind them in their tanks...and if anything, well, I am planning on getting axolotls. If I get overwhelmed they could be a nutritious snack! (sorry!)


How many adults would be comfortable in a 5 gallon tank?

In my 5gal RCS only tank that is soil based natural planted....I have roughly....30...maybe 50...more or less...I harvest on a regular basis to stock other tanks......on any given day I can usually count 15-20 adults and TNTC babies.....

I really think I might want to try doing a NPT. I might just go dump this gravel and just get some soil and start over and do this right. I really want to make this look nice :D

I can't wait to see purple, I'm planning on getting some RCS eventually, always good to have someone I can talk to

RCS are the cutest little critters. I recommend the darkest substrate you can get, as it makes them stand out well. And java moss, lots of.
I would start with maybe 20, as in good conditions they will breed extremely quickly. I went from 5 to 30 within a few months, when they realised it was safe to breed. My sorority has driven them into hiding, but I know they are around. :)

Yeah. I feel bad just dumping my gravel, so when I change substrate I need to figure out what to do with it hahaha.
