Bettas and Neon Tetras.

So as of today I went to my LFS and snatched two little neon tetra's!. After putting them in with the plastic bag and Stu giving a few failed attempts to rid his tank of the unwanted visitors (This included him rapidly charging the bag and biting it!) he now completely ignores them unless they come to close to him, as he then chases them away. I am more worried about the Neon Tetra's though. They are lurking down the bottom of the tank and seem not to be interested in there food. I am only feeding them crushed Goldfish Flakes at the moment, as I have no tetra food. Just wondering if anyone could give me advice to keep them all happy!

They live in schools of 5 + neon tetra. How big is your tank?

My LFS wont sell batches of fish over 3 or 5, so I will be getting some more later, I was kinda using Goliath and Severus in a trial run. and it is 8 L.

8 L is quite a bit too small for neon tetras. That sized tank is only big enough for a betta on its own (no other fish), unless you meant 8 gallons rather than 8L? The neons need to be in a 10 gallon tank at least (40L) so you'll need to move them asap :)

+1 to Emmalee. Neons need a 10 gallon, and schools of 6+

I have just removed my Neons and put them in one of my larger tanks as they were in with my bettas and were nipping and I realise the tanks were too small

Take the advice of the other members, your tank is too small for neons as they really are an active fish and need schools of 6+ minimum or they will most likely nip your bettas fins, in that small of a tank... they will be stressed and will get aggressive and nip at your betta.

I would get a 10 gallon tank or return them. You really shouldn't confine them to something smaller, so if you don't have room return them or if they won't except returns just ask if they can take them back as they really are gonna be trouble in your situation.
