I agree with Smoke.
Your fish might learn where to find the surface but he might panic while learning. I would just leave a very small space between the glass and the water... not much, just enough for the fish to have the entire top to breathe.

That's a good idea too. Fluval Edges can be hard to clean too, because of the small opening. I ultimately returned mine because I had a hard time even putting the fake plants inside when I was setting it up.

And if you get a 10g, you can always divide it and get another betta.

I agree, the fluval edge is gorgeous, but I wouldnt use it for a betta simply because they need to breathe. With another type of fish you could be more successful though.

yeaa i took it back to the store got 110$ back and bought a 10g tank for 54$ lol
